Solar bus brings free internet labs and education across rural communities in India

HP is leading a successful effort to improves the lives of hundred of boys and girls in rural India, changing the present and ensuring a brighter future.

Go Eco Green21.Have you ever heard of Solar on Wheels? It is a project of having solar panels installed on smart buses in pan India. The buses are solarized and powered by Trina Solar modules. Total 10 solar panels are on each bus, system size – 3.2 kW on each bus, and panels can run computer lab for minimum 8 hours in a day.


According to the United Nations, in 2018 51% of the population of the world had access to internet, which means that 3.5 billion people were under the shadows of exclusion, poverty and failure. An analysis by Go Eco Green21 noted that the Initiative Digital India, promoted by the goverment, seeks to create a new path for opportunities, supporting public and private partnerships to strengthen the access and use of internet as key component for education of children and young people, to ensure better opportunities and a more inclusive and prosperous future.


The Solar on Wheels project is part of HP’s commitment to build and deploy 48 self-contained, internet-enabled digital inclusion and learning labs in PPP model aimed at driving digital literacy, E-education, Entrepreneurship training, and other citizen services in rural India.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has that from an historic and per capita emission perspective, Mr. Modi maintained that while India’s contribution to global warming is very low, it is “one of the leading nations when it comes to taking steps to address this issue”. He also noted it is working towards the target of 450 giga watts of renewable energy, and creating the International Solar Alliance.
